Intestinal intussusceptions often occur in puppies and may be a cause or result of chronic diarrhoea. Romeo, a 2.5 month old golden retriever puppy was brought to us with a history of diarrhoea for over a week. Further testing and an abdominal ultrasound revealed an intussusception which is a telescoping of one part of the intestine into another. Surgery was performed to correct the problem, during which part of the affected intestine had to be removed. We were happy to see Romeo make a full recovery in the week following his surgery.
